    Yankee fans, we witnessed a special moment on Sunday, April 27 — and I don’t just mean sweeping a doubleheader! J.C. Escarra, the Yankees’ feel-good story of the year, finally hit his first Major League home run — and it couldn’t have been scripted any better.

    It was the second game of the twin bill against the Blue Jays. Bottom of the 8th inning. We were already up, but Escarra gave us that sweet insurance run when he absolutely launched one into the right-field seats off former Yankee Chad Green. (Talk about full circle, huh?) The place went nuts — and honestly, so did I. Final score: Yankees 5, Blue Jays 1. Sweep city, baby.

    Early Struggles, But We Hang Tough

    The game started with both teams swinging and missing. Our Yankees couldn’t get anything going in the first inning, with Ben Rice, Aaron Judge, and Cody Bellinger all striking out. It was one of those innings where it felt like we were just getting warmed up, but the Tigers weren’t much better. They also went down quietly in the first, with Justyn-Henry Malloy grounding out and Andy Ibáñez striking out. Riley Greene did get a hit but was quickly forced out at second.

    The second inning came and went with a similar theme—lots of strikeouts. Our hitters got on base, but the Tigers’ pitching kept us in check. Paul Goldschmidt singled, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. worked a walk, but Anthony Volpe and Jasson Domínguez struck out, and Oswaldo Cabrera couldn’t capitalize.
